It’s Off To US Open For Louisiana Captain

HARRINGTON’S DECISION TO ATTEND MEETING PAYS OFF

Chuck Harrington, captain of the Louisiana (B) Men’s 4.5 team, was not planning to attend the captain’s meeting on Wednesday night, but fortunately for him his teammate talked him into stopping by.

Moments after he told the other Louisiana team captain, Kevin Simpson, that he was about to dash out of the meeting, his name was announced as the winner of a free US Open weekend getaway package for two. The package includes two session passes to the tournament and two night accommodations during Labor Day weekend.

Harrington did not know about the contest being offered to captains. To be eligible, captains must have been a registered hotel guest at the Wynfrey Hotel and had a minimum total of nine nights registered for the entire team. After winning the Louisiana State Championships, Harrington and his team immediately booked five rooms for three nights at the hotel.

Having never been to the US Open, Harrington has decided to take along his wife on the trip. They are both avid tennis players and are looking forward to witnessing the excitement and action in-person at their first Grand Slam. The largest tournament they have attended is the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, FL. When asked what players he wanted to see, Harrington said, “anybody…male, female, doesn’t matter.”

While he has not thought out the details of the trip, he knows his wife will have a full itinerary planned by the time he returns to New Orleans. While this will be his first time to the US Open, this will not be his first trip to New York City. Harrington stated that his favorite part of the Big Apple is riding the subway and visiting Manhattan.

will be attending every future captain’s meeting and will not be questioning whether it is mandatory or not. Hopefully, his good luck will continue on the courts this week.
