Tomorrow will feature an all Louisiana final in the men’s senior 4.0 division. Captain Jude Olivier of Louisiana (B) will look to lead his team to revenge over their friends and fellow Baton Rouge residents in a rematch of the State Championship match a few weeks ago. Now that Olivier has his No. 1 singles player back in action this weekend, he hopes that will give them the edge to send the team to USTA League Nationals this year.

The group of men has all been friends for over 15 years and all play out of the Bocage Tennis Club. The players have become incredibly close over the years and have developed a strong competitive spirit. They are constantly pushing each other to succeed and never let each other off the hook.

Despite all of the competitiveness, what they most enjoy about playing together is enjoying a few beers and laughs after their matches. Their home tennis club has a shaded balcony that is the prime location for them to relax.

One of the team members has a particular close attachment to Louisiana and Southern tennis. Wayne Bono served as a past president of USTA Louisiana. Also, has served on 32 boards and was the chairmen of 18 of them, some from his professional career and others for non-profit organizations.

Now that he is stepping down, Bono is hoping to enjoy the benefits of retirement. With no more boards to sit on, Bono is looking forward to finally be able to relax and enjoy playing the sport he has worked so hard to promote.

Win or lose tomorrow, one thing is certain: Olivier and his team will be having a great time playing together tomorrow and when the match is complete they will all be joking and enjoying a few drinks to celebrate another successful season.
