Tennis Success Postpones Store Opening

TWO OF THREE PARTNERS PLAYING HERE

This spring, two other local league players - Janette Cunningham and Julie Larrichio – and I came together and started talking about the need for a tennis shop in our area, Western Wake County of North Carolina and the city of Cary.

Fueled by what we felt was a huge gap in our local retail market and the explosive and documented growth of tennis in our area, we sought to create a full-service tennis shop, that would also be a place where local players of all ages and levels can come to shop and stay connected to what's happening in the local tennis community.

We founded Love All Tennis and, by April, we were well underway planning our store! At the same time, all three of us were playing on different USTA League spring teams in Cary. All three of our teams had winning seasons, and my team and Janette's team both earned bids to the State Championships. Even though attending the Championships with our teams would likely impact the opening date of the store, neither Janette or me could pass up the opportunity to be a part of the experience of going to the North Carolina Championships. So, off we went and the opening date of the store was pushed back a week.

States were a whirlwind for both of our teams - my 3.0 team, captained by Kristin Wright, won States and earned a bid to advance to USTA League Southern Section Championships. We were thrilled. Then the next weekend, Janette's team traveled to Pinehurst and came in third for the 2.5 women, captained by Susan Collard. A few days after they returned, an exciting phone call suddenly meant that Janette's team would be headed to Mobile as well. Now with two of the three partners going out of town just before our new opening date, we had to make the decision to postpone the opening again! There was no way were Janette and I missing the opportunity to travel to Mobile to compete with our teams!

Our store opening is now set for August 7, just a week after we return from Sectionals. Our teammates have been tremendously supportive of our new endeavor and happy we could arrange our schedules to be able to play with then. You just may see a few Love All Tennis t-shirts around the Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center this weekend.
