With over
300,000 participants in the United States, the USTA
League Tennis program is the largest recreational tennis
league in the world. Year after year the USTA League
Tennis Southern Sectional Championships proves to be the
finest league tennis tournament anywhere in the country
and the more than 2,100 players competing each year
makes it the "World's Largest Tennis Tournament!" This
year's championship promises to be bigger and better
than ever before!
The 200-plus teams entered this year have already
battled through their local leagues and state
championships for the chance to play for a national
title this Fall. However, before we hit the courts here
at Sectionals, let's take a step back to reflect on what
it took for these teams to make it this far.
The following teams and players have submitted essays,
poems, short stories and songs explaining what it took
to for them to make it to Mobile. While we know
everyone is here with a single goal in mind, we thought
it would be nice to take an personal, in-depth look at
the competition to see what makes each of them tick. You
will probably find that many of the teams here in
Mobile have experienced similar challenges and
triumphs along the way.
If you would like to share your team's experiences on
your "Road to Mobile" please email your contribution
to Ron Cioffi.
