First-Half Winners Crowned at 2011 USTA League
Tennis Southern Sectional Championships

NEXT STOP FOR WINNING TEAMS IS NATIONALS IN THE FALL

MOBILE, AL – Aug. 2, 2011 – Ten teams from the USTA Southern Section have advanced to the national championships of the largest adult recreational tennis league in the world by winning the 2011 USTA League Southern Section Championships today.

More than 900 players on about 100 teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee competed in the first half of nine-day tournament. In order to reach this point, teams competed in regular season matches and a state championship. Winners here advanced to play other sectional champions at the USTA League National Championships.

Louisiana led the states with two champions and three finalists. Alabama had two winners and two finalists. Pelham, Ala. was well represented with two champions; Baton Rouge, La., had a champion and a finalist in the same division and Atlanta had two finalists.
